toadworks lil leo is gone, replaced with a keeley fuzzhead. wampler talent booster also no longer on there, replaced with a zendrive. The line6 trem has been replaced with a fulltone supa trem, and i also have a lovepedal pickle vibe on there now (epic pedal). also the visual sound volume pedal is gone (lame)
What gear?
1968 fender bassman head (50 watt), modded to blackface specs with the marshall mod on channel 1, bought off my best buddy Rich (spidercaster) a few weeks back. most awesomest amp ever.
2x12 red matchless cab with lame stock speakers. changing for greenbacks soon.
Multiple boost pedal setup
I do indeed run 3 boost pedals simultaneously, all permanently on. It pushes the amp's frequency response harder so you get a flatter tone that sits better in a live mix. I do indeed keep the boost side of the analogman king of tone on permanently, as well as the creation audio labs mk4.2.1 thing, as well as a volume and low end boost from the EQ pedal. The compressor is also permanently on, with a little bit of a volume boost so I guess that adds to it too. the catlinbread dirty little secret is my main drive sound, and the zendrive is for solos, but it sucks so i'm replacing it with a timmy next week. will post pics soon.
Also while I was gone Brian Wampler (indyguitarist) very kindly dropped off some pedals for me to try out. All his stuff is absolutely ridiculous so I can't wait to try his new delay and compressor (johnny hiland signature model prototype)
why are you still using that crappy looking blonde tele?
'the failcaster' - first real tele, assembled from ebay parts due to lack of money. Body (and everything in/on it) from a 2006 highway1 tele. brand new when i bought it (for $130 or something retarded). Neck (held on by only 3 screws) is from a used mexican nashville deluxe tele. Pickups were eventually changed to seymour duncan 5-2 (bridge) and seymour duncan vintage hot (neck) over the years. I actually picked up a seymour duncan endorsement but completely forgot about it, so I might order something new soon.
the failcaster also has a horrendously intonated B bender, which I installed myself. there's a thread about it somewhere. A moment of zealous and impulsive DIY, it somehow worked (and still does, to an extent) and has become an integral part of my telecaster sound.
I still use that guitar because it travelled round the world with me and has harbored over the years all kinds of nail varnish paint touch-ups, bodilly fluids and offensive stickers; and I have something of an attatchment to it.
Also it sounds incredible for some reason. Brent actually ended up taking it to his sessions a few times while I was back in England, in favour of his '68 tele.
What other guitars?
pink hahn 228, valley arts strat (given to me by brent on my first trip over here), vanquish legacy custom (twin p-90s, sickest guitar of it's type on the face of the planet)
WTF tele necks?!
I had to change the necks between the hahn and the blonde fender, see the hahn is my main stage guitar and I use the fender for Eflat tunings, mostly playing either open chords or baritone parts in drop C#. basically, the hahn neck (rosewood) kept warping out on the road and buzzing out on the little frets so i had to change it over in order for it to function. the fender neck (from a mexican nashville tele) is still my fave neck ever, so it works well for now. I will get the hahn worked by on joe glaser when I get time back home and i can restore both guitars to normality. but I had to do it, it was that or no tele.
